  • ¾ cup split peas, soaked with a pinch of baking soda (or substitute with moong dal or toor dal)

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 teaspoons chopped green chili (optional)

  • 7 cloves garlic, finely grated

  • 1½ teaspoons freshly grated ginger

  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (garnish)


Spices


  • 4 tablespoons olive or avocado oil

  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds

  • 4 dried red chilies

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
